E. & J. Gallo Winery
CREATIVE DIRECTION · DESIGN LEAD · EMPLOYER BRAND IDENTITY SYSTEM · UI/UX DESIGN
Founded in 1933, E. & J. Gallo Winery is the largest family-owned winery in the world, with more than 7,000 global employees and 130 award-winning wine and spirit brands in their portfolio today. Gallo was “my baby” for years while working at Bayard Advertising. What started as a careers website refresh, expanded into a full employer brand identity overhaul and a true labor of love. In addition to the visual system, we also helped identify and improve upon specific challenges Gallo was experiencing within their recruitment process. Spearheading this initiative, I took on the roles of UI/UX designer, creative director and design lead, intimately working with a team of junior designers, copywriters and web developers along the way. Together, we completely transformed Gallo’s candidate experience.
It’s important to note that every piece of this system has purpose. The color palette, pulling from all of the beautiful, natural tones prevalent in wine making; the graphic pattern, inspired by an intricate architectural installation on their campus; the flexible, innovative website that showcases their position as technology leaders in their industry – strategic choices were made for every element. And no stone was left unturned. We reinvented components as small as thumbnails to massive 56 passenger charter buses, and hundreds of printed and digital assets in-between. All resulting in a highly interactive, responsive site, the perfect amount of guerilla marketing, energetic, modern, collateral and a very happy client.
